Here’s the gem . . . your experiences and uniqueness cannot be stolen, borrowed nor duplicated. That said, while you are developing your game plan to win, think long game. Don’t think “I want to win this tournament”, think “I want to be a legend in this game”. When you are thinking only about the tournament : winning is great and losing sucks. Instant gratification. When you think of legend in the game: winning is okay and losing is okay; they’re both okay because the next day, win or lose, you’re over it and back to practice. This isn’t to say don’t celebrate the small wins, you should, cheer for you sis. The gem is, don’t get caught in the applause so much that you forget to keep showing up. AND applying pressure!
There’s no judgement either way but on this journey to winning you have to distinguish are you playing for small wins or forever keeps. This decision determines the strategy for your next move or series of moves. The forever keeps path isn’t easy, it often isn’t pretty and it just might seem a little lonely at times. Keep going; when you know there’s greater for you, the only way to get to it is to move forward. Don’t get too overwhelmed in figuring out the process, it’s only understood in hindsight anyway, keep moving sis.

Chin Up Buttercup - Your Confidence is a Mood
Your confidence is not meant to make people comfortable; if someone is intimidated by you, it’s a reflection of their insecurities, not your problem sis!
It is not your job today nor will it be your job tomorrow to belittle yourself, your authenticity nor your individualized greatness to make someone else feel comfortable in your presence. Remember this, write it down if you need to, save it on your lock screen if necessary. Oftentimes our inability to appreciate who we are is rooted in someone saying something to make us second guess ourselves. Maybe it was that one family member who always has something to say or that one girl from elementary school who frequently picked on our skin color, hair, blemishes or size. Either way, we are letting it go today and it’s chin up buttercup from here on out. Easier said than done, most things I say are, I love the tough stuff. Want to know why? Glad you asked! The tough stuff is what makes us, the tough stuff is what gets in the way of our excellence, ignoring the tough stuff will have us out here being toxic for absolutely no reason.
As a brown girl bound to win you don’t have the time. Period! It’s just that simple! You can get all the education, certifications and alphabet soup you want then allow lack of confidence to slide you right away from the tables you either 1) worked to get a seat at or 2) worked hard to create -- let’s not see either happen, let’s just nip it in the bud right now!
